Pro-Russian militants in Donbas have shot at Ukrainian servicemen 28 times since the early hours of 16 January 2016, the antiterrorist operation (ATO) HQ has said in its regular evening update.
Militants of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic were especially active in the Donetsk sector. They fired grenade launchers and firearms on the Ukrainian servicemen's positions near Zaytseve, Avdiyivka, Pisky and Krasnohorivka. In Opytne, the used firearms, large-calibre machine guns, various types of grenade launchers and an infantry fighting vehicle. The militants also fired a large-calibre machine gun and an infantry fighting vehicle near Luhanske.
It was relatively quiet in the Luhansk and Mariupol sectors.
The Ukrainian troops took no casualties on 15 January despite 40 shooting attacks by the militants.
