Since the start of the day, pro-Russian militants have opened fire on the antiterrorist operation (ATO) troops in Donbas 24 times, the ATO press centre has said on Facebook.
In the night, they fired on Ukrainian servicemen's strongpoints in Maryinka twice. In the daytime, an enemy sniper was spotted shooting at the Maryinka checkpoint.
Near Novhorodske close to separatist-held Horlivka, the militants shot at the ATO positions with heavy machine guns and small arms. Near Donetsk airport, they used mortars and grenade launchers at the ATO positions in Opytne. In Pisky, the militants used small arms.
In the Mariupol sector, the militants fired small arms on the ATO positions near Shyrokyne.
On 16 February, the militants launched 60 shooting attacks at the ATO positions. Apart from grenade launchers and mortars, they used the Grad multiple launch rocket systems.
