Ukraine has decided to abandon trivalent oral polio vaccine (OPV) and dispose of unused doses.
The press service said that the Health Ministry in its 24 March decree described the steps Ukraine was going to take to move to bivalent OPV. It includes collecting regional data on demand for a new vaccine, sending an application to UNICEF, completing the registration of bivalent OPV and holding seminars on the switch between the vaccines.
The deadline for trivalent OPV is 18 April 2016 and its disposal is scheduled for 13 May 2016.
Ukraine will have to dispose of over 5.7m doses currently in stock.
