The Ukrainian parliament has backed first deputy speaker Andriy Parubiy for speaker for head of the legislature.
Speaking to lawmakers before the vote, Paruby stated that he aims to ensure the unity of parliament. "In the days of the Ruin of the year 1918, the internal squabbles resulted in the loss of the state. I do emphasize: it was not the lack of military force, not the economy, but squabbles. Today, it is our responsibility that Ukraine should win this war," Parubiy said.
While 284 deputies favoured his candidature, the Russia-leaning Opposition Bloc, the Revival group, as the Will of the People group did not give a single vote for Parubiy.
