On Tuesday, 29 August, US Energy Secretary Rick Perry will visit Ukraine, the press service of the US Department of Energy reported on Monday, 28 August.
"Energy Minister Rick Perry will head the US delegation to Kyiv on 29 August. The delegation will meet with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and other Ukrainian officials to discuss how both countries can continue to build up their economies through a strong energy partnership," the report said.
Members of the delegation will include Rep. Kevin Cramer, R-N.D., and Ray Washburne, president and CEO of Overseas Private Investment Corporation.
This week, the Energy Department celebrated the first-ever shipment of coal to Ukraine at a press event at the Port of Baltimore.
Poroshenko met Perry during the 20 June visit to Washington. The Ukrainian president thanked the USA for its practical assistance in strengthening Ukraine's energy security and noted Ukraine's interest in a wider use of modern American technologies and advanced experience in the energy sector.
Perry's visit is expected to give a boost to the stalled privatization of Ukrainian regional energy companies, oblenergos, slated to be held next month.
In June, Ukraine and the USA reached a preliminary agreement on the purchase of 2m tonnes of US coal.
