The German federal government will provide an additional financial support for humanitarian efforts of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Ukraine in the amount of 6.5m euros, the German embassy in Ukraine told LB.ua on Monday.
The total German financing of the ICRC efforts in Ukraine in 2016–18 will thus increase to 14.5m euros.
Germany provides financial support for numerous humanitarian actions in the framework of the ICRC project "Assistance, Protection, Prevention and Cooperation in Ukraine", which are held mainly in Eastern Ukraine.
The project covers medical care, trauma aid, support for health facilities, preventive measures, food and hygiene supplies, water supply, training of medical personnel and service personnel, the search of missing persons and the restoration of family ties, visits to detainees, information campaigns on the risk of mines and unexploded ordnance etc.
