The UN secretariat has officially provided Ukrainian investigators with a photo copy of ex-President Viktor Yanukovych's letter, dated 1 March 2014, in which he asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to use the Russian Armed Forces on the Ukrainian territory, a prosecutor of the Main Military Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine, Ruslan Kravchenko, has told Interfax-Ukraine.
He said that investigators had made an inquiry through Ukraine's UN office.
They received a copy of then Russian envoy Vitaliy Churkin's request to the UN to recognize Yanukovych's letter to Putin as an official document. They also received a copy of the letter in question and added to the files of Yanukovych's high treason case being heard by the Kyiv Obolonskyy district court.
