An unidentified attacker has shot dead a member of the Donbas battalion, Vitaliy Oleshko (code name Sarmat), in Berdyansk, Zaporizhzhya Region, his friend Andriy Madzharov has said on Facebook.
He also published a video from the crime scene.
According to Madzharov, Sarmat was killed with two shots in the back from a double-barrel rifle by "some bearded incomprehensible mortal".
Police have confirmed the news on Oleshko's murder. A special operation has been launched.
Once a volunteer battalion, Donbas was incorporated into the National Guard.
