Police have detained a man suspected of killing a Donbas war veteran and activist, Vitaliy Oleshko (Sarmat), his friend Semen Kabakaev has said on Facebook.
An adviser to the head of the main directorate of the National Police in Odesa Region, Ruslan Forostyak, confirmed this information on Facebook.
"A while ago Vitaliy Sarmat's killer was detained near Melitopol as a result of search and rescue efforts," he said.
Earlier, police found an abandoned car which the suspect used to flee the crime scene.
Oleshko was killed with two shots in the back from a rifle earlier today.
