Police have detained five men on suspicion of killing a Donbas war veteran and public activist, Vitaliy Oleshko (Sarmat), the first deputy head of the criminal police, Vyacheslav Abroskin, has said.
Police stopped a car with four suspects in the town of Vasylivka, Zaporizhzhya Region. One more criminal was found and detained in Bedyansk. The five were detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Abroskin said that police had found a ZAZ car in Berdyansk with a sawn-off hunting rifle, which was presumably used to kill Oleshko.
Oleshko was killed with two shots in the back from a rifle on 31 July.
