Poroshenko views Zelenskyy's remarks on Donbas "rebels"

The president said he was shocked.

President Petro Poroshenko has shared his impressions of the debate with election frontrunner Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the Olympic Stadium.

Speaking in the studio of the UA:First public TV, Poroshenko noted that the atmosphere at the stadium was fantastic. However, he was shocked, he added.

“When I hear from the presidential candidate two days before the election the phrase about "rebels of the LPR/DPR [self-proclaimed Luhansk and Donetsk people's republics", this attests either to Russian cliches or total incompetence. Because it clearly shows that we have no Russian troops, no Russian aggression. We have rebels who allegedly live on the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, and that Ukrainians kill themselves, and that we leave Russia outside of this aggression. And I am absolutely sure that this is Zelenskyy's position," Poroshenko said.

During the debate at the Olympic stadium earlier in the day, Zelenskyy said at the beginning of the Q & A session that he was asking questions that his HQ had received from voters on the Internet.

"Why are your sweets still easily available in Moscow stores in Moscow? is it true - I’m not saying - that Roshen candies are in the rations of LPR and DPR rebels?” Zelenskyy asked.
