Fatherland MP Vladylsav Bukharyev has been appointed head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, the deputy head of the presidential administration, Ruslan Ryaboshapkha, has said at a briefing.
Bukharyev replaced Yehor Bozhok, who headed the service in 2017-2019. Since March 2019, Bozhok has been deputy foreign minister. Andriy Alekseyenko was the acting head of the service until now.
From December 2007 to March 2010, Bukharyev was the first deputy head of the State Tax Administration and chief of the tax police.
On 1 March 2014, acting Ukrainian President Oleksandr Turchynov appointed Bukharyev first deputy head of the SBU and head of the main department for fighting corruption.
He was elected to parliament as Fatherland candidate in first-past-the-post constituency No 162, having received 20.26% of the vote.
