Valeriy Hrebenyuk has replaced Roman Bezsmertnyy as Ukraine's representative in the political subgroup of the trilateral contact group on a Donbas settlement, OSCE ambassador Martin Sajdik has said, according to Radio Liberty.
The political subgroup continued to discuss a possible amnesty for pro-Russian militants and local elections in the separatist-controlled areas of Donbas, but has not reached any decision.
Hrebenyuk was Ukraine's ambassador to the Republic of South Africa, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe. In 2014, he was appointed a diplomatic adviser to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy removed Bezsmertnyy from the subgroup on 13 August, a month after he appointed him there. Bezsmertnyy also represented Ukraine in the political subgroup in 2015-2016.
