New Finance Minister Ihor Umanskyy has said that cooperation with the IMF is an “unconditional priority” for Ukraine.

He was speaking at a meeting with IMF Resident Representative in Ukraine Goesta Ljungman on 6 March.

“The IMF Extended Fund Facility is important to supporting the financial stability and implementation of structural reforms in Ukraine, which is a government priority. Jointly with our IMF colleagues we continue taking active efforts to launch the programme,” the press service of the Finance Ministry quoted him as saying.

The minister suggested that senior government members should meet IMF representatives in Washington shortly to discuss further cooperation.

In early December 2019, Ukraine reached a preliminary agreement with the IMF management on the opening of a new three-year Extended Fund Facility programme.
