Russia blocked the service "Google News." The news was reported by "Interfax" with reference to Roskomnadzor.
"At the request of the Prosecutor General's Office, Roskomnadzor has restricted access to the Internet service Google News in the country," - says the statement.
The restriction means blocking access to news.google.com.
Roskomnaddi stated that "the mentioned US news Internet resource provided access to numerous publications and materials containing unreliable socially significant information about the special military operation on the territory of Ukraine."
The agency also reminded that according to the law of the RF (Russian Federation), spreading information about the armed forces leads to criminal punishment.
According to the polls' opinion, we should know that 71% of Russians are proud that Russia is at war with Ukraine.
Russian media is forbidden to call the war against Ukraine a "war"; they may call it only a "special operation"; its purpose is "denazification of Ukraine." Therefore, official TV channels and the media spread fakes and did not show videos of Russian prisoners of war interrogations as well as photos of the eliminated occupiers and their equipment.
Publications about the occupiers eliminated in Ukraine are considered "discreditation of Russian troops" in Russia. Spreading such information leads to up to 15 years in prison.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Serhiy Lavrov, said that having the US support Ukraine creates "ethnically oriented" biological weapons. The Ministry of Defense of Russia also reported capturing "experimental" birds from Ukraine, which allegedly can spread "bioagents that can selectively affect different ethnic groups." The Russian media broadcast these messages.
On 14 March 2022, Russia blocked Instagram on its territory. Access to Facebook is also limited there. It was also reported that YouTube might be blocked in Russia as well.
Roskomnadzor also threatens to block Wikipedia for an article entitled "Russia's Invasion of Ukraine" (2022).
At the beginning of March, Roskomnadzor blocked several so-called "opposition" Russian media.
