As of the morning of 14 May, 227 children died and over 420 got wounded as a result of the full-scale russia’s invasion running from 24 February, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine (PGO) reports.
"These are not final numbers, as work is underway to count them in places of active hostilities, in the temporarily occupied and liberated territories," the statement said.
According to the PGO, the largest number of victims among children are in Donetsk region - 139, Kyiv region - 116, Kharkiv region - 99, Chernihiv region - 68, Kherson region - 48, Luhansk region - 45, Mykolaiv region - 44, Zaporizhia region - 28, Sumy region - 17, in the city of Kyiv - 16, znd Zhytomyr region - 15.
As a result of the bombing and shelling of Ukrainian towns and villages by the armed forces of the russian federation, 1,748 educational institutions were damaged. At the same time, 144 of them were destroyed.
Since the beginning of russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the National Police has received a report of the disappearance of 1,214 children.
As of the morning of May 13, 2022, the official number of child victims of the invasion was 226.
