After finishing the song, the frontman of the Kalush Orchestra, Oleh Psyuk, addressed the world community: "Please help Ukrainian Mariupol! Help Azovstal right now!"

However, such an appeal could disqualify the band because it violates Eurovision rules.

Later, the Azov Regiment thanked the band on Twitter for their support: "Thank you, KALUSH ORCHESTRA, for your support! Glory to Ukraine!"

The band Kalush Orchestra, representing Ukraine, made it to the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest finals. Artists from 17 countries competed in the semifinals, which took place the night before at the Pala Olimpico in Turin, Italy. Ukrainians performed sixth with the song Stefania.
