The government in the draft state budget for 2018 will provide extra 1 bn hryvnia for a targeted program to support farming, said Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman.

"We must create a system for the revival of Ukrainian farming ... We will suggest in September a new budget for 2018, and we will propose to the parliament to approve an at least 1 bn hryvnia target program for the development of farming," he told a forum on decentralization in Ternopil Region.

The prime minister said the program developed with his direct participation will be aimed to support small and medium-sized farming.

The 2017 budget provides 3.62 bn hryvnia for programs supporting the agro-industrial complex. Among other things, UAH 300mn are earmarked for the purpose of cheapening loans, UAH 60mn – for financial support for the cheapening of insurance payments and the formation of a stock of varietal and hybrid seeds.

The development of hop-growing, the laying of new gardens, vineyards and berry-crops –75mn, for the support of livestock farming – 210mn hryvnia, for financial support to agricultural producers processing up to 500 hectares of land – 2.973 bn hryvnia.
