The Energy and Coal Industry Ministry is planning to announce a tender in the second half of 2019 to build a nuclear fuel production facility in Yuzhnoukrayinsk, Mykolayiv Region.
"We will build the plant on the basis of the Yuzhnoukrayinsk nuclear power plant," Energy and Coal Industry Minister Ihor Nasalyk said.
The facility will be located there because fuel-assembly bottom nozzles used for nuclear waste production are made there.
The project is expected to cost around $120m-130m dollars of investment.
Nasalyk said that US Westinghouse had confirmed a technology for the production of nuclear fuel.
