The team of incumbent President Petro Poroshenko expects at least a 70% turnout at the 31 March presidential election, the deputy head of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction in parliament and deputy head of his election HQ, Serhiy Berezenko, has said in an interview with LB.ua.
Their canvassing campaign is based on this figure.
"Considering that we expect a huge turnout – around 70%, or around 20m people – together with all the party members involved in the election campaign, our team will include around 100,000-130,000 people," Berezenko said.
He recalled that there are 30,000 polling stations in Ukraine and under the law, each of 44 candidates can have one representative in a polling station commission and one observer.
"This means that every candidate fighting for victory should have 60,000 representatives at polling stations," he said.
Hence, he added, 44 candidates may directly involve 2.6m Ukrainians in the election process.
