Parliament has refused to grant Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman's resignation request.

Only 97 MPs voted in favour of his dismissal.

"Volodymyr Borysovych, members of the Cabinet of Ministers, I am calling on you to continue your systemic work for the development of Ukraine," speaker Andriy Parubiy said after the vote.

Groysman thanked MPs for their trust in him and his team and urged them to continue supporting the Cabinet of Ministers.

“I hear a lot of criticism addressed to us. Sometimes it is fair. You think I don’t understand how difficult the issues are our country is facing today? How difficult it is for people today? You think it is easy to be the prime minister of a coalition government which needs to come up with consensual decisions? Is it easy to service the national debt today? But I’m a realist and I know that the steps we have taken are starting to bring change. And these changes will be faster if parliamentary factions, regardless of their political affiliation, unite and vote," Groysman said.
