The European Solidarity party elected former President Petro Poroshenko its leader at a congress on 31 May.
Poroshenko said he was honoured to head the political force which "for five years has not been afraid to carry a very heavy cross of responsibility for rescuing the country which found itself on the brink of an abyss".
Thus, the party dismissed its former leader Vitaliy Klitschko, who resigned back in 2016, and endorsed a new presidium of the central board.
The new presidium includes Yuriy Biryukov, Vitaliy Haydukevych, Iryna Herashchenko, Mariya Ionova, Oleh Synyutka and Serhiy Taran in addition to Petro Poroshenko as party leader and Maksym Savrasov as head of the party secretariat.
