The State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) has opened criminal proceedings based on a complaint by the head of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction, David Arakhamiya, about possible abuse of power by ex-Prosecutor-General Yuriy Lutsenko, Interfax-Ukraine said.
The case is opened under Article 364 Part 1 (abuse of power and official position) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Arakhamiya alleged that Lutsenko, possibly in collusion with a number of former MPs and others, benefitted an illegal gambling business.
Lutsenko, for his part, rejected the allegations as unfounded and a "fantasy".
