The National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine has decided to close the border to foreigners for two weeks, its secretary Oleksiy Danilov has said.
"In 48 hours, our country will close the border to foreign citizens. In two weeks, depending on how the situation develops, we at the National Security and Defence Council will make the next decision," Danilov said.
There will be no entry ban for citizens of Ukraine but the National Security and Defense Council urged Ukrainians not to go abroad.
"All citizens of Ukraine abroad will be able to return," he said, adding that people returning from countries badly hit by coronavirus will have to undergo certain monitoring procedures.
"Within a week, all checkpoints should be provided with rapid tests, everyone will have to take them," Danilov said.
