There are currently 105 russian battalion tactical groups in Ukraine. The enemy continues to add new ones to the territory of Donbass, the spokesman of the US Department of Defense said at a briefing.

A Pentagon official added that US intelligence had reports that some russian officers had refused to carry out orders.

"We continue to receive anecdotal evidence that fighting spirit and unity of the forces remain a problem, soldiers do not obey orders or, you know, do not fight as well or aggressively as expected, and even some officers refuse to carry out orders," he said.

When asked about the fighting spirit of Ukrainians at the Pentagon, they reminded that the defenders have been fighting since 2014, and the US Department of Defense has no information about morale problems.

"I do not want to speak for each individual unit, but we just do not see this [low fighting spirit. - Ed.]. They have - and they have shown it - a very strong will to fight and zeal to continue to defend positions," - added the official.

According to open sources of the enemy, each russian battalion-tactical group [BTG] has 600-800 servicemen. However, the enemy suffers heavy losses in Ukraine, so in reality each of the BTGs may have a much smaller number of occupiers.
