According to preliminary reports, no-one was hurt.

A transformer at the Dnipro-based Prydniprovska thermal power plant caught fire at around 4 a.m. on 5 April. According to the State Emergencies Service, around 15 sq.m. of the transformer burnt out. It took 50 fifty firefighters and 10 fire and rescue cars around 40 minutes to tame the fire. No-one was hurt.

DTEK, which owns the plant, said that as a result of the fire, power supply along three lines was automatically stopped.

There is no threat to environment or city residents' health.

The 1,765 MW Prydniprovska thermal power plant is located on the left bank of the Dnipro River. It supplies electricity to Dnipropetrovsk Region, electricity and heating to the city of Dnipro.
