The American company L3Harris Technologies received a contract from the US Department of Defence to supply Ukraine with 14 VAMPIRE multi-purpose weapons systems. The contract is worth $40 million, according to the company's website.
VAMPIRE systems will allow Ukrainian ground forces to target and shoot down enemy drones and defend against adversary ground threats.
“The systems ordered by DoD are tailored to provide critical defence assets to help Ukraine protect against attacks on civilian infrastructure,” the message said.
Four VAMPIRE systems are to be delivered to the Pentagon by the middle of the year, and ten more by the end of 2023.
L3Harris' Vehicle-Agnostic Modular Palletized ISR Rocket Equipment is a portable, vehicle-independent kit that can be mounted on most vehicles with a cargo platform to launch Advanced Precision Kill Weapons System (APKWS) or other laser-guided munitions.
